What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community?

Part independent living, part assisted living, part short-term rehabilitation and part skilled nursing home, Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) offer a tiered approach to the aging process, accommodating residents’ changing needs. CCRCs offer a variety of services within one community with guaranteed lifetime housing, social activities and increased levels of care as needs change.

Upon entering, healthy adults can reside independently in single-family homes, apartments or condominiums. When assistance with everyday activities becomes necessary, they can move into assisted living or nursing care facilities. These communities give older adults the option to live in one location for the duration of their lives, with much of their future care already figured out. Continuing Care Communities provide a great level of comfort to seniors and their families.  Should health care services become necessary, much of the stress is removed from care giving relationships.
