ocated in Hackettstown, New Jersey, The House of the
Good Shepherd is surrounded by many attractions that are within a short distance
of our community. These include city, state, county, and national parks,
colleges, universities, and areas of recreational and cultural interest. Historic villages and small towns dot the countryside waiting for visitors to
explore their uniqueness or to spend an afternoon shopping or visiting the many
shops or museums. We have highlighted a few of these for you.
H
istoric Chester, NJ boasts many small shops and stores for a leisurely afternoon
of shopping. Located east of The House of the Good Shepherd on Route 24, it is
about a twenty minute drive. Restaurants in the area offer many types of cuisine
for guests to enjoy.
The
Delaware
Water Gap National Recreation
Area is located west of The House of the Good Shepherd within a one hour
d rive. This area of New Jersey and Pennsylvania provides some of the finest
outdoor recreation.
T he
United States Golf Association Golf House
Museum and Library in Far Hills, N.J are located within an hour's drive of The
House of the Good Shepherd. This facility offers the golf enthusiast a look at
the history of this sport from its beginnings to the present.
The village of Hope, NJ is about a thirty minute
drive from our
community. Settled in the 1700's it has interesting historic buildings and small
shops. A perfect place to spend an afternoon stepping back in time.

Nearby Saxton Falls provides fishermen one of
the nicest areas in the state. Stocked several times a year with trout, the Musconetcong river flows for miles through the mountains and valleys of the
state. Exploring the remains of the old Morris Canal that once provided
transportation through this area is an interesting way to visit the past.

inebrook Golf Course is located near The House of th e
Good Shepherd. This challenging, 18 hole course provides the golfer a beautiful
setting. A fully stocked pro shop and a restaurant complete the amenities.
J
ust a short drive on Waterloo Road is the quaint and historic
Waterloo Village. This early
American village nestled along the remains of the old Morris Canal offers
visitors a glimpse of New Jersey history.

chooley's Mountain Park is just minutes from our community .
Part of the Morris County Park System, this area provides many opportunities for
recreation. The lake located within the park grounds is a peaceful place to
spend an afternoon.

Centenary
College, located in Hackettstown, is just a few minutes from The House of
the Good Shepherd. Throughout the year many educational and cultural activities
and programs are presented.
Wild
West City- Have you ever dreamed
of living in the days of the old west? Well, partners, here is
your passport to entertainment and educational adventure. When you step through
the gates of this Western town, you’re back in Dodge City, Kansas in the 1880’s.
Located in Netcong, NJ approximately 20 minutes from The House of the Good
Shepherd.
Land
of Make Believe and Pirates Cove, located in Great Meadows, is only
about 20 minutes minutes from The House of the Good Shepherd. New Jersey's
premier family water and amusement park featuring incredible family fun in a
safe and wholesome atmosphere!
